Drove to the Island Park area for a lobster roll and found this charming mural as well. The lobster was delicious.
Two Rs for the price of one!
This was a truly unexpected treat: the remains of an old sign on the corner of Merriam Ct. and South Long Beach Road in Rockville Center. Made my dad pull over to photograph it.
At first I thought it might have been a metal sign but then I figured if it had been metal there would likely be signs of rust left on the building. Now I'm thinking it's the bones of an old neon fixture.
As for what I found on the building: it seems the restaurant in this iteration opened in May of 1980. I even found this review of the opening in the Times.
